Leen Vereecken

Leen Vereecken creates expressive portraits and drawings that focus on emotion, gaze and individual presence.

Laarne-based artist Leen Vereecken has drawn and painted from an early age and has continued to refine her techniques through study and practice. Portraiture is central to her work, with particular attention to expression, gaze and the individuality of the person represented.

She works mainly with soft pastel but also uses other drawing and painting techniques. At times she has worked on retro wallpaper, allowing parts of the patterned ground to remain visible, while larger works often begin on a blank sheet. Her background includes model drawing, graphic design and training at art academies in Wetteren and Ghent.
