Karine Van Nieuwenhuyse translates emotion into paintings with vivid colour and a strong contrast between inner mood and visual intensity.

Karine Van Nieuwenhuyse began painting as an adult and has continued to use the medium as a direct way of working through emotion. Her paintings often emerge from darker or more complex feelings, while the colours themselves can be vivid and energetic.

That tension between emotional content and bright colour gives the work much of its character. She studied for four years at the Academy of Anderlecht and has also developed independently as a self-taught artist, exhibiting in group and gallery settings in Belgium.
