Miranda Van den Broeck, known as Mi, returned seriously to art in 2019 after earlier studies in charcoal drawing at the art academy in Hamme. She continued with painting at the Art Academy of Waasmunster, where experimentation with oil paint became an important part of her practice.

Her work moves between realism and surrealism. Nature, music, people and emotion are recurring subjects, often combined with touches of spirituality or symbolism. Fine detail and careful observation are characteristic, while the act of painting itself offers her concentration, quiet and a strong sense of time falling away.
