Ronny Roels has drawn since childhood and later developed a painting practice in oil. Studies in higher art education, including drawing and painting from the live model, strengthened his interest in the human figure.

The nude is a recurring subject in his work and is treated with a strong commitment to realism. Roels sees art as a meeting point between beauty, emotion and individual interpretation. Personal fantasy, ideas and private imaginative worlds enter the paintings, while the direct presence of the figure keeps the work visually grounded.
