Kobe Michiels

Kobe Michiels is a Ghent-based poet and visual artist whose creative practice moves between poetry, painting and, more recently, digital art.

Kobe Michiels is a Belgian poet and visual artist based in Ghent. Poetry lies at the centre of his creative practice, shaped by personal experience, observation and reflection. His debut collection, Drijfkracht, was published by Uitgeverij Partizaan after his work had been selected several times by Het Gezeefde Gedicht.

In 2025, he published Volle Leegte, a collaboration that brings his poetry into dialogue with paintings by Didem Gungor. Published by Dizaura, the book explores the meeting point between written and visual expression. Alongside his writing, Kobe has also developed a practice in painting and digital art, and has exhibited his visual work in Assenede.

In 2026, Kobe took part in Deur Nen Dijk, an outdoor art and poetry project in Assenede in which 36 creatively transformed doors are placed along a two-kilometre route through the landscape. His own door forms part of the installation, extending his work from the page into a physical and public setting.

At the opening weekend on 19 September, Kobe was also one of the featured poets at the deur-dicht-poëzieavond, alongside Nicole Ledegen, Farbod Fathinejad and André R. R. Caulier Jr. The project reflects an important aspect of his work: an interest in how poetry, visual art, landscape and shared experience can come together in different forms.
