Martine Braeckman is a ceramic artist whose work is closely connected to nature. Colours and forms from the natural world enter pieces that begin as simple clay and gradually acquire their own character through hand-building and experimentation.

She deliberately avoids perfect forms. For Braeckman, irregularity leaves room for imagination and gives each object an individual presence. Her practice is a search for balance and harmony, shaped through the physical process of working with clay. She trained at the Academy of Wetteren and later developed her own studio practice.
